You’ve found the top-secret surprise party lair! Andrew’s birthday is on Tuesday, and it is our great joy each year to write him a thread full of birthday blessings. Celebrate him by writing him a note—something you appreciate about him, what his books or songs have meant to you, a haiku about dragons, a funny story you think he’d enjoy, or even just “Happy birthday!” Then, when he comes, we POUNCE. 🙂

Thank you so much for everything you do. I’ve truly been blessed and changed by your books, posts, and songs. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without your work, and I’m so incredibly grateful to God for putting you in my life.
I wish you many more years of creating amazing things, and pray that your birthday is fun and full of joy.
The stories are true!

Thank you so much for your books! They have been a HUGE blessing to me and to everyone I’ve recommended them to. I’ve read all of them 5 times, and my family has read them aloud twice. We suggest them to just about all our friends, and they have loved them too.
Your music has been a great encouragement too! We listened to it when we lived in India and now here. That is what we listen to when we are cleaning around the house, and we’ve done some of them as special music at church.
Your books and music have been bridges to share the gospel, lights in dark times, and fun things to encounter every day.
I’ve never met you, but you have been a blessing to me all the same. I won’t stop reading your books and listening to your music (ever) and I will keep on recommending them to everybody I meet.
So happy birthday! I hope that you are blessed and have a great day today!

Dear Mr. Peterson,
Happy Birthday! I love your stories and songs. They are all very meaningful. Your stories and songs have become a part of our everyday life. I teach my little brother (he just turned 4) to act out scenes from Wingfeather. I think you should keep writing songs and PLEASE WRITE MORE BOOKS! My favorite song is the Sower’s Song because it makes me feel happy and full of hope and I feel Jesus’ love for me. My brother’s favorite song is His Heart Beats. My church finally sang Is He Worthy during Easter and we were so happy. We sing it at night a lot before bed. I am thankful for your ministry. Have a great birthday!
Soli Deo Gloria,

Happy birthday, Mr. Peterson!
I love your books. I think you should write more fantasy because you’re so good at it. I’m trying to learn how to write good stories, but I don’t think I’ll ever be as skillful and gifted as you. Your books are great examples of a variety of writing skills, interesting and relatable characters, and captivating plots. I personally am inspired by, and aspire to, your work. The way you make it seem so real . . .
So, happy birthday and please keep writing. Know that you’ve touched so many young people, and we’re all grateful for it. I wish there were more people in the world like you!

Happiest of birthdays to you! Thank you so much for all that you share with us, I love many of your songs so much that I can’t listen without tears of appreciation and gratitude.
God bless you and your family

Dear Mr Peterson,
Thank you so much for such beautiful songs. I was first introduced to them by my husband and his family who absolutely adore you and your work. It wasn’t until tragedies befell is that your songs really impacted and open themselves up to me. I’ve found so much solace and comfort in your music, the lyrics, the music and how it points my tear stained eyes and broken heart backnto God. I’ve never met you but hope to someday… HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Our family is grateful for you as a person, your faithfulness to God, your dedication to the gifts you have been given. Hope it is a blessed day!

As my kids sang together in the car last night, “Lord, Remember me…,” I was reminded of how grateful I am for what you’ve given to us as a family with your words, both in books and songs. But I am also reminded of the truth that it is out of the treasury of a good heart that a man brings forth good things, so I am thankful that in the years God has given you, you have allowed Him to redeem you and fill your heart with a treasury of good things so that we could all benefit.

Many happy returns of the day, Andrew!
It has been one of the greatest blessings of my life as a songwriter and a Christian to have been introduced to your music and writing, and an even greater joy to meet with you on a handful of times. Your weakness and humility in the face of great trials and even more so in the face of great success are a near-indescribable encouragement to me. I say this not to praise you, but to praise our God whom we serve.
I thank God that I will be forever influenced by the Lord’s working in your own life, and I pray that He will see fit to use me in turn.
Grace, love, and peace to you, my dear brother!

Happy Birthday AP! You have blessed my life in ways too numerous to mention. I’m so grateful for our friendship.

Birthday salutations and all of God’s blessings to you from a brand new fan!
June 4, 2019 at 10:57 am #37640
Happiest of Birthdays to you! One of the things I’m looking forward to in Heaven is getting to sit down with you and chat about all the stories, for they are true. I don’t have an adequate ability to describe how your work and faithful use of words has shaped my life. Just know that you are so very appreciated and loved.
June 4, 2019 at 10:58 am #37641
Happy Birthday, Andrew! I’m so glad that you were born and that you’re you and that you share your gifts so abundantly with the rest of us. Have a wonderful day!

Josh with the stuffed horse
Happy Birthday big brother in the Lord. I tend to be incapable of grasping the idea behind the phrase “long story short” but will try to keep it brief. The truth and beauty in your songs has been a light through the darkest times of my life including what I am walking through right now. Through spiritual darkness, suicide in the family, almost destroying my own marriage there’s been a light of hope that your songs have always carried me back to. Thank you so much for writing those songs. Thank you so much for singing those songs. And thank you so much for seeking to foster more of that beauty and light in this world through the Rabbit Room. God bless you and keep you and shine His face upon you dear brother.
PS I met you in Orlando during BTLOG this past year holding my daughters stuffed horse.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. Glad to be alive, and grateful for you all.

Happiest of moments and memories to someone who has meant so much to our family. Looking forward to my daughter’s journey into the rabbit world this summer!

Happy Birthday Andrew! My family has been blessed many times over by your music and writing. I got to see you at the Wilberforce Weekend Pre-conference in DC last month and was greatly blessed and encouraged by what you, Jonothan Rogers, and Douglas McKelvy shared. May the Lord bless you and keep you in this new year.
Grace and Peace

When I started sharing your music with people, I described your style as “if C.S. Lewis wrote folk music.” I didn’t know at the time that you had mastery over at least two of the T.H.A.G.S., but now your Wingfeather Saga sits on my bookshelf between The Chronicles of Narnia and a Sherlock Holmes I use as a secret guest book. You have cultivated your gifts beautifully, and you use them to inspire the best in us, unite us, remind us of our names, and point us towards a good and brilliant Creator who loves us. Thank you for sharing those gifts and for making it a delight to celebrate you today! Happy birthday, Andrew Peterson! Hope today is neat, the best kinds of strange, and very yummy!
June 4, 2019 at 1:05 pm #37654
Happy birthday, Mr. Peterson! I LOVE your books! The Saga is my favorite series. You are an amazing writer and music artist! Keep at it!
June 4, 2019 at 1:28 pm #37655
You, sir, are one of the most inspiring people on the face of the earth. Your writing is phenomenal. I have never read anything so profound and real as the Wingfeather Saga. I cried at the fourth book twice, and I don’t normally cry at books! Those were the only two times.
And your music. Ohh, your music is beautiful. I don’t even have words. One time I was going through something hard, one of your songs came to mind, and I immediately felt God’s presence.
Sorry I had to hit you with so much ranting. I assume by now you’ve probably heard it all more than once. 😛 Happy birthday! May God continue to bless you and use you.

Happy birthday, AP!
Everything I want to say has probably already been said… so I reckon all I’m sayin’ is theres nothing more to say… (Wow. That just happened.)
Anyways, thank you so much for the truth, goodness, and beauty you’ve brought to all of our lives. Your music and writing has uplifted me for nearly two years, and now I can’t imagine living without your songs. I can’t wait to see you at the Ontario Great Homeschool Convention!
May the God of love and thunder bless you and keep you in the coming year.

Very merriest of birthdays to you, Andrew! I suppose I’m about the millionth person to say that I can’t adequately express how much your works and ministry have been a blessing to me – but it’s true! As a lefty who has dealt often with loneliness, it has been such an encouragement to hear the beautiful words of someone who understands. I thank the Lord for you, and pray that He will ever be increasing your joy!
(I’m sure that you don’t remember this, but I got to meet you very briefly at the Richmond BTLOG concert in 2017 – looking forward to seeing you at Hutchmoot!)

June 4, 2019 at 4:20 pm #37660
Happy Birthday! You have inspired me for the past few years with your beautiful passion for the arts. Your music has carried me through many difficult times. I honestly may not be a Christian without the work and pain and love you have put into your creations. Your songs move me to a point that no other songs ever have. And for that I am extremely thankful to you.
The Wingfeather Saga has literally been life changing for me. The many themes that you carry thought your songs were now written in the form of a story and it carried so much meaning. Still, everytime I hear the song “My Love Has Gone Across the Sea” I, an unemotional logical thinker, choke up.
Thank you for perservering in your work and have a fantastic birthday, sir!

Happy birthday! Thank you for all the ways you are faithful to your creative calling, to your family and community, and to our Jesus. It’s one thing to admire an artist from afar, but it’s another to realize that someone whose art you appreciate lives with such integrity. You don’t only sing about the joys and trials of following Jesus, you’re also the kind of guy who drives across town to clean out a near-stranger’s car. I’m very thankful for that.
Your music and books have comforted and encouraged me and it’s been a privilege to participate in the Rabbit Room community and to see all God is doing through it because one day you paid attention to an inkling of an idea 🙂
I hope your birthday is full of goodness and beauty and love.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Peterson!
I love your music and your books. My family first read them when I was about 10. We were kind of creeped out by the first chapter (it seemed kind of dark, and we didn’t know anything about the books). But I am SO glad we kept reading! The message of light and love in your books is so refreshing in this world of darkness. Even when reading them makes me want to cry because they are so true. Thank you so much for sharing your literary and musical gifts with us.

Happiest of Birthdays to you, Andrew! Your music is a daily staple in our home. When my husband and I renew our wedding vows this August, we plan on playing Dancing in the Mine Fields….it was harder than we dreamed but I believe that’s what the promise is for. If that isn’t true, I don’t know what is! Thank you for your faithful work!

Happy birthday, boss. 🙂 I’m so glad you’re alive on this earth.
June 4, 2019 at 9:43 pm #37672
Dear AP~~~ Just in a short time of finding your music, books, Rabbit Room, great family and your selfless service to others, my husband and I have been seriously blessed. Hope you spent your day in the woods or with your dear family. We first heard you in person at last year’s WILBERFORCE WEEKEND. I wept when you sang…KEEP ON DREAMING… I loved your portion of the presentations at WW. I look forward to your new book. I have been so thankful for your tender way you care about people. I was thrilled you came to Sandy Cove in NE Maryland in Feb. I have asked them to invite you again.
May you find peace, rest, & joy this day and night. HE IS FAITHFUL !

It is one of my favourite books.

Feliz Cumpleaños! Thankful for your ministry of music and thankful for my church family that supports and shares your music and the like. Also, thanks for bringing more wholesome beauty to the arts for the next generation. It’s an amazing testimony to hear/ see how you support and serve artists around you. God bless! Love from Lima, Peru.

Happy late birthday! You’ve filled my heart with your books, and now three quarters of mind are devoted to toothy cows and ridge runners. Thank you!

Happy birthday, Mr. Peterson. I am thankful for your many, many good words. They have led me to better know my Creator.

This is as heartfelt as it is belated (so you know it’s REALLY heartfelt): I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Andrew. You’re a pretty cool guy. Your influence & work has been a force for advancing the beauty of the Lord & His story, & pushing back against the darkness. God bless.

Dear Mr. Peterson,
I know that I’m really late posting this, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am for your books, and how I hope you liked my drawing. It was the one that had Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli on it wearing crowns. It said, happy birthday Mr. Peterson! On the front. We have met before at the well coffee house in tennesse, and you signed our books, and I talked to your daughter, Skye. I wish me and her could be friends! I was at your last story writing talk in Franklin TN, and it blessed me so much. It encouraged me to finish writing my book, even though I’d practically given up on it. I tried to find you there and talk to you myself, but my Mom and Dad had to take me home. I understand if you don’t read this, but I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday.
