If you found a secret map, what would you do?

It depends on what side of my nature got hold of it: my better, tookish self would definitely go all out for adventure (and possibly keep it a secret), my wimpish, comfort-loving baggins half would return it to the owner and then go read a book.

I would copy the map onto a separate paper, return the map to where I found it, and then whenever I had time I would sneak of and try to find where the map leads.

I would, at first, put it back where I got it. And then I would wonder about it every day, and it would probably keep me up at night until finally, I would go back and pick up the map and follow it.

Depends where the map led to . . . I might try to make a quick copy, but whether or not I’d follow it is iffy. I might just decide to keep it for if/when it turned out to be That Thing We Really Need later in the adventure that would inevitably follow from the finding of the secret map (whether or not I followed it).

Study it well, return it to it’s hiding place and recreate it immediately. If I had the chance I would go back to check my version against the original. Then start researching about where it leads and when it was likely to be made. If I am going to run off following mysterious maps (and I might) I want to be prepared for what I am likely to encounter when I get there.

If the map went to the refrigerator, I’d be gone faster than you could squish a spider.

Well, if the map said that it lead to the ghost of Brimney Stupe, woe, sadness, greif, and sorrow, then I would put it somewhere I could look at it whenever I wanted… And go when I was older. Otherwise, I would invite my two closest friends to come with me on the adventure!
