Kickstarter Update #8: Keith Lango

Today I would love to introduce you to Keith Lango, the CG artist hard at work on the Wingfeather animated short. He been doing CG for over twenty years now and has worked on VeggieTales and 3-2-1 Penguins, Mickey Mouse and G.I. Joe movies, the video game Portal 2, and more. Today he posted an article at Speculative Faith about why the Wingfeather Kickstarter matters to him, and why he hopes it matters to you, too. Read it here.p.s. If you want to know more about Keith himself, here's an interview he gave a few months ago. You can also find him on IMDb.p.p.s. As of this morning, we are now over two thousand backers strong. That's a lot of people who believe in this project. Thank you! And please keep sharing!

Animated series Kickstarter: Update #3

image

It’s been one week, and the Wingfeather Saga film project has raised $142,000! We were able to reach the first goal in just 48 hours, which was an overwhelming testament to your generosity and excitement about seeing the Wingfeather Saga on screen. We all hoped that the response would be that strong, but I’m no less amazed or grateful that you guys have jumped on board.

So here’s the next step, in case this is your first Kickstarter campaign. The genius of the way Kickstarter works is that now it all comes down to spreading the word. The more people find out about and support this project, the sweeter your rewards get. By reaching the third goal (and we’re about to reach the fourth!), if you signed up for the Wingfeather Tales level (or any level above it) you’ll now get not one but four new illustrated stories in the book! Not only that, the animation gets richer and more robust as the budget increases.

In case you didn’t see it online, we offered a surprise gift of a 20 song compilation of my music—including the cinematic version of “My Love Has Gone Across the Sea,” which you hear in the trailer. Twenty songs! I’ve lost my mind. If you want the compilation all you have to do is sign up to back the project and you’ll find the link in the updates section for backers.

This whole thing has been so exciting, and I love that we’ll be able to point the potential distributors to this campaign when the time comes and show them that you guys are a loyal army of supporters that are interested in seeing this kind of film come to life. My hope is that we’ll get to share this story—and all its nuances—with a lot of people. Let’s bring Janner home

Thank you so much for your help so far.

I’m off to Sweden today to sing for my distant cousins, so your prayers for me and mine are appreciated. Two weeks is a long time for Jamie and the kids to hold down the fort here at the Warren.

Gratefully,AP

P.S. Here are a few links to make it THAT MUCH EASIER for you to share the campaign. :)

Animated series Kickstarter: Update #2

What a week! Last week at this time we were all writhing in anticipation of the Something Awesome that Andrew kept telling us was coming. Now we've met not only the initial fundraising goal but TWO stretch goals, and are well on our way to a third! So much is happening around here that it's hard to keep up.Our initial goal of $110,000 not only allows us to create an animated short film starring the three Igiby kids, but also gives us a brand-new short story by Douglas McKelvey. This first story in the new Wingfeather Tales series will be illustrated by Aedan Peterson (whom you might know as Ollister B. Pembrick himself!). And now that we've started unlocking stretch goals, we'll get even more stories, as well as more animated characters to make that film even more awesome (Thwaps! Podo!). The first stretch goal gives us a story written by Jonathan Rogers and illustrated by Justin Gerard. The second stretch goal means we're getting a story by Jennifer Trafton with illustrations by John Hendrix. If you don't know how utterly amazing this is, drop everything and read Andrew's glowing recommendations (here and here), posted as updates at the Kickstarter page.As I was typing this update, the ticker rolled over to $139,000. At $145,000 we'll get another short story, as well as another new animated character. Go check that out—and share, share, share! That is the very best way to ensure more stories, more animated characters, and more of everything Wingfeather. Thanks so much for your enthusiasm and help! This week Andrew heads to Sweden for a week-and-a-half-long tour. How far can we get in those stretch goals before he gets back? :-)wingfeatherPoster_4_3_FINALWant to indoctrinate invite your friends? Here's a link to the teaser on YouTube, for easy sharing!

Animated series Kickstarter: Update #1

Just before the 48 hour mark, the Kickstarter to bring The Wingfeather Saga to the screen was FUNDED. This was insane and awesome to watch unfold! And now, on day four of the campaign, we've surpassed our first stretch goal and are well on our way to the next. The first stretch goal allows us to animate a whole sack's-worth of thwaps—and the next goal will give us Podo, who's sorely needed now that those darn thwaps are loose!Thank you so much to everyone who's contributed by pledging, sharing on social media, and telling all your friends about this! There's no way to bring a huge project like this to life except with the help of many, many (many) generous folks like you. Here's the official teaser trailer:[embed]https://www.facebook.com/WingfeatherSaga/videos/1125279257504224/[/embed]Read Andrew's announcement post here.Invite your friends to participate!
