Welcome!

cottage_2_2Welcome, dear reader, to the official site for the Wingfeather Saga.

What’s the Wingfeather Saga?

It’s a series of four fantasy-adventure novels about the three Igiby children, Janner, Kalmar, and Leeli. At the beginning of the story Janner is twelve, Kalmar (who’s nickname is Tink) is eleven, and their little sister Leeli is nine. They’re accompanied by Leeli’s dog Nugget, their mother Nia, and their ex-pirate grandfather Podo Helmer.

They live in a world called Aerwiar, which is exactly like our world–except they don’t have electricity or gunpowder, and there are all sorts of creepy animals, like sea dragons and toothy cows. Janner, the eldest, is about to discover that the ordinary little town where they live is anything but ordinary. In fact, he and his family are at the center of a great mystery that will change their lives forever.

I hope you’ll get your hands on a copy of the book and join the adventure. But beware of the toothy cows. They’re horrifying.

Parents, visit the parents’ section by clicking the above tab if you have questions or concerns about the books, and feel free to email me at andrew@wingfeathersaga.com.

I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! i just finished the 3rd one a week ago and now I’m in agony to know how it ends! i think my 2 favorite characters were Artham P. Wingfeather and Leeli Wingfeather. please make sure the 3 wingfeather heirs meet up with Gnag the nameless. i’m dying to know who he is! though i think he’s ouster will’s great, great, great, great, great, great, great, gggggrrrrreeeeaaaaaaaattttttttt grandson cause there’s info to prove it, (or at least BIG coincidences,) like the dragon Yurgen took 2 pebbles of holore to heal his son because OUSTER WILL tricked him, and that traiter Bonifer said that “if he can make an army of fangs with but TWO of the stones” so maybe he took the pebbles from Yurgen. also, Bonifer said that Gnag was HUMAN. and last but not least, there was scary tales about Ouster Will because he betrayed his father and the maker and decided to go to the dark side.

I have officially decided: These are the best books on the planet! I did once make up a story about me being a throne warden….. it was really fun. Especially me pretending to have a sword. I used sticks. It was really fun!

So I’m finishing up On The Edge and have one question that is bothering me. Nugget. Nugget died, and comes back as a bigger Nugget? My wife told me (or spoiled) that the same thing is alluded to for Podo. I’m usually not the kind to nitpick but it seems a big deal when considering what you’re telling readers. Help me understand this NOT as reincarnation because I can’t find a way around thinking that’s what you’re saying.

    Dear Mr. Peterson Sir,
I never thought I could love something as much as I love Lewis and Tolkien, but… you have made that possible. :) Words cannot describe what these books mean to me. I am so grateful that there is something out there that is beautifully written, creative, but not a typical stupid teen fiction novel (Ugh). I am actually good friends with many people from TLC, so that’s cool, and I sent my book with a friend to be signed. :) Heh heh. You are so amazing, and even if some people say otherwise, I am your BIGGEST fan. For real.

Just finished Hollows last night; this is without a doubt in my top 5 favorite books/series of all time. I really need to try your music if your stories are this epic! I laughed, I cried, I balled up with tension & suspense, but best of all I feel like I got to get to know a new facet of our amazing Father in heaven through the incredibly imaginative, beautiful and real descriptions of strength, love, and mercy. I feel like these characters are my family now and I was SO GLAD to realize at the end that there would be one more! I wish I’d know about the audio versions (I knit while I’m reading-and since I can’t put either down, that sure would make it easier ;-) I think when my daughter gets older we will definitely start the Wingfeather tradition of reading them aloud! You, sir, are a master and I love you.

Mr. Peterson, I love your books! I enjoy staying up at night reading them, even when in the morning I am tired and sore. In less than a week I finished “The Monster in the Hollows,” and loved it! I actually cried during some of it…please visit my website, “iggyfings.blogspot.com” and do you recognize the name?? :) It is all about your amazing series and Peet the Sock Man, my fav character!! I want to be a writer when i’m older, just like you, and you give me so much inspiration for MY own series!! God bless you and your family!! :)

I absolutely love your books!!! Your vivid descriptions and active writing really make it come alive! I feel like I’m in the midst of it all; even though my eyes are on the words, I don’t see them. I don’t even hear what’s going on around me! I feel like I’m right there – I can hear Leeli’s songs, the clash of swords, and the fangs’ cruel laughter; I can see the sweat on Janner’s brow, the worry on Nia’s face, and the crooked smile on the Oversear’s lips. Thanks so much for writing these amazing books!!! I can’t wait for the next one!

I LOVE your series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally can’t wait for The Warden and the Wolf King!! I am eternally grateful to my friend for letting me borrow them! If it wasn’t for her, I probably would never have read them, because out of all of the Kootenai Shoshone area libraries, not one of them has the series!!!!!!! But anyway, thank you so much for the Wingfeather Saga!! I loved King Esben for the short time I knew him!!

Hello! This summer my husband and daughters fairly raced to the family room most evenings for our nightly Wingfeather readings. We devoured all three books and ,thank you very much, but now our evenings are left wanting! We NEED the 4th book! After stalking the Rabbit Room for the past couple of months, I stumbled upon this here little site and so I must ask if there is any idea of when it might be released? If it is not going to be for a while, please let me know so I can put my children out of their misery (and my own since they ask me regularly for news — as if I’m somehow in the loop with “the” Andrew Peterson! Thank you for spinning such wonderful, soulful stories. They are on my gift list for my adventure loving nephews too!

I’m a reader and a writer, and a Wingfeather fan! Your books make Aerwiar come alive. Aerwiar is the world of my dreams, the places where my imagination flies. The words on the pages of The Wingfeather Saga make me believe with all my heart that the characters, places, and creatures of Skree and Beyond are as real as the sun and as lifelike as the sky is blue. I just read North! Or be Eaten and I’ve fallen in love with the characters and can’t wait to read more! I think Peet is my favorite character of all. And my second favorite, Nugget and Leeli.
When books make me laugh and cry, and let my imagination fly, when I’m surprised, worried, angry, sad, or joyful, and all these emotions combined, just from reading words, I know that this truly is great literature.
I really like Peet. Whenever he’s in great peril, I worry as if the world was going to end, or worse, my cat was going to die. Yay, Artham!
I love your books. So much so that I’m up way past my bedtime every night because I can’t put my book down.
The part in North! Or Be Eaten with the Grey Fangs, Black box and horrible music really creeped me out. Then Artham saved the day! Yay! Will Tink ever get back to normal?
    Can’t wait to read more!!!!
    Write on!

My twin and I love the stories! I haven’t finished the Hollows yet, but I love it. I often have dreams about the characters and ESPECIALLY Artham :) He is my favorite. I sketched a picture of him, but he looks like Leeli in a Halloween costume, (dont tell him i said so) I live 30 mins from Nashville, TN! :) And just to say: PLEASE dont kill off Artham (if you haven’t already :/ ). If you make him die, I will die. And I hope you get a space yacht. -Lily :)
