Readalongs! Prizes!

Gather ‘round, ye children (and parents and dogs and plushes and grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins and whomever’s in yelling distance)! Forsooth, Andrew shall soonly recommence READALONGS!!

At the beginning of quarantine, Andrew read the first two books aloud to us, live, over Facebook and YouTube, and we have all been dying for him to start reading again. Well, I am here to tell you that HE WILL and HE IS STARTING on October 19! Set your clocks for 7:00 Central every night, and be ready to find out what is happening at the end of the Wingfeathers’ long journey across the Dark Sea of Darkness. (I am excited for you to finally arrive in my homeland.) You can find Andrew’s readalongs here and here, and as the time draws nearer you will see actual events posted in both places. You can even sign up for reminder notifications. :-)

Meanwhile, don’t forget to preorder books 3-4 (or the whole 4-volume set)! You can find them in the Store tab above. You can even get maps, either with the books or on their own! You might want a copy of your own to follow along with as Andrew reads book 3 (and then 4).

MORE FUN THINGS OCCURRING:

#WingfeatherFan giveaway: Andrew is giving away two full sets of signed books (one on Facebook and one on Instagram). He’ll award them to winners of his fan art—just post your art, cosplay, fan video, etc. on social media and hashtag your post #WingfeatherFan so he can find it. That giveaway is open until October 5. Click here for more details.

UTR giveaway: Under the Radar is an organization that promotes and encourages musical artists who create with skill and integrity but don’t always get a lot of airtime. Team Wingfeather has a lot of friends among those artists, and UTR loves Andrew, too. They’re also hosting a giveaway, which you can enter at their website. This one is open until November 11! But don’t wait that long to sign up. While you’re there, check out the music.

Until next time—that’s the news!

A new welcome

Featherheads, Flabbits, and Fendril-riders!

We at Team Wingfeather have been hard at work all summer long—digging through the archives, sorting and piling up what we find, making lists of lists of other lists—and result is now before you. Andrew charted our course, Christie kept us coordinated, I (Madame Sidler) researched lore, and our intrepid web designer Leslie put all the pieces together. We're excited to welcome you to the brand-new Wingfeather Saga dot com.

You'll notice a few changes around here besides the new look. A lot of the good content we've been building for years is still here, just organized to help you find it more easily. But we've also added a lot of new content to the Encyclopedia (with more coming!), plus an actual pronunciation guide, some character bios, new maps, and even a store right here on the site! We’ve also got plans to update the fan art page—which you get to contribute to. And that part makes us all excited.

Speaking of fan art, Andrew made a fun announcement on social media yesterday. If you haven’t seen that, click here, and pay special attention to announcement #3. (And stay tuned for updates on #2!). For an update on announcement #1, click here to watch the new video just posted today.

So welcome back! Go make some art. Explore the site. :-) And if you need anything... I'll be around. ;-)

Launch team! Books 3-4

Greetings, dear Featherheads! You may be interested to note that there is an opportunity upon us just now—an invitation, in fact, to help launch the next two Wingfeather books!

The whole series is being reprinted in beautiful hardcover with brand-new cover art and illustrations. The first two are out now—I hope you have seen them!—and the next two come out September 15. That means that very shortly, we get to make a LOT of noise about our favorite Wingfeathers. (You can start now, actually. You are always welcome to make noise about Wingfeathers. I will not stop you, although if you are in the library I might suggest you make noise outside. 😉)

So what does this launch team include, you might ask? Early access to the books, for one thing! Plus the pride of knowing that you took your stand against the fearsome Fangs of Dang. All you need is a social media account (for noise-making purposes).

Applications are open until August 5! Click here to be voomed to the application!

An end and a beginning

My dear Flabbits, Featherheads, and Fendril-riders, I have been so glad and so honored to be your librarian. Over the last five years it has been a delight to watch you develop friendships, create worlds together, and discuss everything under the sun, from Wingfeather and other books, to dead languages and silly games, to good and difficult experiences in our own lives. It's been good to get to know you, not just as readers but as people. I have made some very dear, lifelong friends here myself, and I'm so glad to know, even as this phase comes to a close, that so many of you wonderful forum-dwellers have also found ways to stay connected.

As Andrew said last week, things change, in the internet and in our own lives, and we aren't currently able to maintain a full community here at the site. But the site will continue, even though the forums must close. All the content we've built over the years will remain up until the new site launches later this summer, and we've got LOTS of ideas spinning for how to make it awesome. Whatever it ends up looking like, I'm excited to share it with you.

I would leave you with two blessings today. One, which I shared in the forum last week, and one which was shared in return.

One of my favorite poets, T.S. Eliot, says in his Four Quartets, “Not fare well, but fare forward, voyagers.” :-) We are all leaving this forum different than when we arrove. We are losing the forum itself, but we can’t lose what we gained here. We can go forward and bring it forward with us. (It is okay to be sad, though. I feel both sad and excited myself.)

And in the words of one Mischievous Thwapling:

May the Maker watch over you, wherever your footsteps fall. Whether you stumble in the darkest valleys, or stand atop the highest mountain, remember, He loves you.

With the fondest fare forwards,
Song Maiden Thwapling.

Now we are off on another adventure, flung wide into the world. :-) Dear friends: Can I help you?
