Original art sale!

Hello friends! I sure hope you’ve been loving Andrew’s online readalong each night. :-) (quick PSA: Tonight, 10/27, he’s starting a bit early. Check out his Facebook for more details.)

I also hope you’ve gotten your hands on the new hardcovers and are loving Joe Sutphin’s marvelous illustrations! He’s rendered the Wingibys so winsomely, and the action so dramatically, and the villains so villainously. And tonight, right after Andrew’s readalong, Joe’s going to make some of his ORIGINALS available to purchase! This is the first time his original Wingfeather drawings have been available to the public. Up till now, he’s offered prints, but not his real pencil-and-ink sketches. So this is not only monumental, but super exciting. Check out Joe’s work here and here, and visit his Etsy shop tonight at 8 pm central for a chance to snatch up one of these excellent drawings.

Why care about fantasy?

Last week, the Gospel Coalition posted a fantastic interview with Andrew. In it, he and interviewer Ginger Blomberg talk about the “escapism” of fantasy, the value of suffering, how parents and kids can be allies, and more.

As Andrew says in the interview, “Stories are how we make sense of the world.”

Thanks, Ginger and GC! Readers, you can find the whole interview here.

Readalongs recommence TONIGHT! Join Andrew live on Facebook or YouTube as he begins reading book 3, The Monster in the Hollows.

A Zoom PARTY!

Announcement!

Since this year is kinda crazy and an in-person release party isn’t possible, what better way to celebrate the books’ rerelease than by going online and inviting EVERYONE?! Mark your calendars—on October 17th, this Saturday, Andrew and our animated series producer Chris Wall are going to be on Zoom to talk about the books. And since it’s on Zoom, you don’t even have to live in Nashville. :-) How does one get in on this, you may ask? By buying a ticket (which includes one or both signed books!) right here.

Readalouds recommence October 19! Follow Andrew on Facebook and YouTube to be notified when he goes live every night at 7:00 Central.

Congratulations to our #WingfeatherFan winners!

So many of you have shared SO MANY wonderful posts full of costumes, fan art, stop motion, crafts, maggotloaf, songs, unboxing videos… it has been absolutely incredible to see your creativity all month long. Your sweet hearts and excitement are an enormous gift. Somehow—I have no idea how—Andrew managed to pick two winners, who will each receive an entire signed set of the new hardcovers. Are you ready? Here they are:

Congratulations, Lee and Abi! And thank you, everyone, for sharing your work!

You can find the rest of the entries on Facebook or Instagram—just search #WingfeatherFan. :-)

Readalongs begin on October 19! And meanwhile, there’s lots to do at Hutchmoot Homebound this weekend, where Andrew and friends are sharing a lot of good talks, music, stories and poems, food (yes, through the internet!), silliness, and even kids’ activities. We hope to “see” you there.

Now, in the great words of Jinto Qweb, “Hurry! Reading is fun!”

One week to go!

Dear Featherheads, we have EIGHT DAYS until books 3-4 relaunch into the world! And we have ONE WEEK left to go on the fan art GIVEAWAY and the FREE ADVENTURER’S KITS. We’re so excited about all of this, and we do not want you to miss it!

Giveaway: We’re giving away a set of signed books, complete with extra goodies, to two participants in the #WingfeatherFan online contest. Click here for more info. Contest closes October 5.

Adventurer’s Kit: Available for everyone who preorders books 3-4! You can claim yours here. This one closes October 6.

You know what doesn’t close on October 5? The brand-new Joe Sutphin art in the store. ;-) Includes foldable maps (great for keeping in a book or backpack for emergency purposes), plus prints from the Enramere and more!

Books 3-4 are coming! The stories are true.

GeekMom review

Yesterday Sarah Pinault of GeekMom posted a great review of The Monster in the Hollows. After a brief recap of book 2 and some enticing and spoiler-free hints of the themes in book 3, she settles in to talk about what she loved most about this installment of the Saga: The women.

This book definitely finds a better balance between male and female characters, and while Janner and Kalmar develop, it is the growth and strength of the various female characters that really stand out here. Nia’s relationship with her childhood friend. Leeli’s growing position in her guild. Sara, just for Sara alone.

Another great line from this review: “If North! Or Be Eaten showed us a world outside of Glipwood, The Monster in the Hollows shows us just how interconnected everything and everyone actually is.” I agree. Thank you, Sarah! Readers, for more on Nia, Leeli, and Sara (and a few illustrations from the book itself!), click through to read the rest of Sarah’s review.
