Kickstarter Update #15: The hour approacheth.

Screenshot 2016-04-04 09.24.33This weekend has been insane. On Saturday we hit three stretch goals—all of the mini-posters and badges. Yesterday we hit two more stretch goals—Andrew's Wingfeather Tale, and the Florid Sword/Shadowblade comic. I may have stopped breathing at several points during the last two days. I can't wait to see those masked heroes riding the rooftops of Dugtown! This morning, Elia T. sent us this drawing:IMG_3465Look at it glow! Can you imagine anything better than seeing the Shining Isle come to life before your eyes? We've got only ten hours left to do what we can to make that a 3D reality.Ten hours! But only eight until the Live Countdown on Facebook. Join Andrew and Chris at 8:00 Central for live Q&A, music, chapter readings, special guests, and more! Until then—would you share the campaign with just one or two more people? Thank you—we are so grateful for your support and encouragement.Onward! To animation and victory!

Kickstarter Update #14: The Countdown!

This is it. After months and months of planning and dreaming and hoping, and then a full month of mind-blowing craziness, we're in the final stretches of the campaign to fund a pilot episode for the Wingfeather Saga Animated Series. As I write this, there are only fifty three hours to go before the Kickstarter ends. What a month! Andrew and Chris have smoke coming out of their ears. I myself am stuffing my fists in my mouth to keep from screaming in the library. These last few days, every new backer is our hero. We're hoping to make it all the way to five thousand backers by Monday night, and as many Facebook/Instagram/Twitter followers as possible, because when Chris and Andrew pitch the series to studios, those studios will ask them whether this animated series is something they should spend their money on. Will there be an audience for this? We know that there is an audience, and a faithful, exuberant audience at that. That audience is YOU. But the more of us there are, the likelier that a studio will catch the excitement and pick up the project. So, how can you help?

  1. If you haven't yet signed up to back the Kickstarter, we would love to have you on board. The more money we raise the better the pilot episode will be, but just giving us a dollar and your heartfelt support will mean the world to us. And at this point, there are a ton of great rewards already funded, so however much you pledge, we all win. :-)
  2. Because the number of backers is so important, sharing the campaign with a friend (or fifty) or even an enemy (or arch-nemesis!) is a great help. Can we get to 5,000 backers? That sounds insane, but let's go for it! This link to a FREE six-chapter preview might help your indoctrination efforts. :-)
  3. Like the Wingfeather Saga Facebook page, and follow The Wingfeather Saga on Instagram and Twitter—these numbers, like the total backer numbers, will be immensely helpful when Andrew and Chris meet with studio executives.

So, what's happening in the next 53 hours?

  • When we make it to $220,000, Andrew himself will write a brand-new Wingfeather Tales short story!
  • If we make it to $230,000, we get a Florid Sword comic book! Crazy!
  • At $250,000, every backer at $30 and up will get a copy of the Wingfeather Tales collection in paperback!

Also, join us for a Live Countdown on Monday for the last two hours of the campaign. This is taking place on Facebook Live, so in order to take part, you'll need to like the Facebook page. We're so grateful for all of you! Thanks for bearing with us for just a few more days of absolute insanity.—Your librarian

Kickstarter Update #12: Peet! Gnorm! N.D. Wilson! Joe Sutphin!

175 reachedThis morning we crossed the line for yet another stretch goal! This allows the animation team to bring Peet and Commander Gnorm to life (!), and gives us a new Wingfeather Tales short story by N.D Wilson, illustrated by Joe Sutphin. :-) (Meet the author and illustrator here.)What's next, you ask?A Map of the Glipwood TownshipGLIPWOOD! In the words of the Kickstarter team, when the campaign hits $250,000, "We’ll get to design the town of Glipwood as part of our animation production and, more importantly, DOUBLE the story length to create a half episode pilot. That means more characters, more adventures and more of Aerwiar."So keep sharing, folks. This is amazing, and we're so glad you're part of it. :-)https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/478789344/bring-the-wingfeather-saga-to-the-screen

Kickstarter update #10: One week to go!

Can you believe it? The Wingfeather Saga Animated Series Kickstarter has only one week left. One week! This has been a crazy ride, full of excitement and gratitude and stress and more excitement and more gratitude. But we're not done yet.Screenshot 2016-03-28 12.58.11Right now, we just hit $169,000 (crazy!), and are only a few backers away from 2174, the same number of people who supported the previous Kickstarter. Will we make it to a half pilot episode at $250,000? Will we blow past that mark and fund a full-length pilot episode? The suspense! And you can help!

If you've got friends who haven't read Wingfeather yet, here's a FREE download of the first six chapters. :-)
